How long have you been doing CrossFit and what motivated you to try it out? In May it will be 4 years! Prior to that I just ran, but it was getting a little mundane. A colleague suggested Crossfit to improve my running pace.   I was scared when I started but that fear instantaneously became motivation!

Tell us about how you became the principal of a school. When did working in administration become your focus?  I was a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher before getting my feet wet in administration. When did it become my focus? Well, it’s really all my sister, Fiona’s fault. She’s been such a wonderful role model and mentor to me. She’s the more experienced administrator and has guided many of my career decisions (amongst other things ha!) Thanks a lot Fiona J

The coaches are in awe of how hard working, and consistent you are with getting to gym, even though you are crazy busy. What drives you to take such good care of yourself? I am a firm believer that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. When I don’t make the box, I feel as if I am missing something. Working out and eating (relatively) healthy makes me happy. I have more energy, handle stress at work a little better, and sleep sounder. It’s a win, win situation!

For those that don’t know, Moira is a mother of two beautiful daughters, Shannon and Kelly. Tell us what is your favorite thing or activity to do with the girls. Taking my girls to the beach, watching them play around in the water, is my all-time favorite thing to do with them. They are growing up way to fast.

What has been your favorite memory since joining Immortal? Watching my girls love for working out evolve over the past few years is overwhelming. My “rock star” Shannon, the toughest 14 year old I know, works out with me at the 5:30 p.m. class a few times a week, determined to do it despite everything. Priceless! Second to that, is a Sista Partner WOD.

You come from a strong Irish family. What is your favorite Irish tradition that your family does? Dinner with family is my all-time favorite. I love to cook! Heading to my sister’s house, cooking in her kitchen, and hanging out with my girls, husband Rob, niece Avery, nephew Liam, sister Fiona, bro-in-law Connor, and my parents are what it’s all about. Family is everything. My favorite non-Irish tradition is watching Marvel shows on Netflix with Rob.

If you could only vacation to the same place for the rest of your life, where would it be and why? Any tropical island will do! I love getting up early, heading down to the beach to have my coffee, meditate, and read. The rest of my beach days consist of watching my girls and working on my Irish tan. J

What goal are you currently pursuing (it doesn’t have to be fitness related)? I’m in the last leg of my Doctoral Program at St. John’s University. Publishing my dissertation on Principal Trust and the Effect on Student Achievement by March 2019 is my next academic goal. More notably, I would like to master the kipping pull up and finishing a 26.2 one day!
