How long have you been doing CrossFit and what motivated you to try it out?
I have been doing CrossFit for two years now, and what motivated me to join CrossFit was the simple fact of having a better physic and improving my health, but little that I know it was going to change my life forever, thanks to the coaches of immortal I started working in my weakness and improving my movements, It gives me great joy to be part of this institution.
Tell us about your home town and country and what you miss most about being away.
I was born in Lima-Peru, my hometown is characterized by its tropical weather, and places that many tourist admire, like the times of the Incas, beautiful colonial places, and beautiful beaches but most importantly the wide variety of delicious and traditional dishes. What I miss the most about my country is definitely my daughter, family members, friends and the delicious food.
We notice that you are always showing up early and staying after class to work on your weaknesses. It is truly inspiring! Where do you get all this amazing motivation from?
CrossFit saved my life, I was not only overweight but I also had bad habits, drinking and smoking almost ruined me. CrossFit turn my life around, although I sometimes have cheat meals, I understand that is part of the process and I reward myself in that form especially with desserts. I am motivated to learn and understand more of CrossFit because I want to help people back in my country who have the mentality I had before I joined CrossFit, I want to introduce CrossFit in my hometown and hopefully change someone’s life for the better
Who are your two favorite CrossFit Athletes (male and female)?
I can say that my favorite athletes are Rich froning and Camille Leblanc. But I rather talk about those athletes who inspire me every day, I am amazed of their level of strength and competition. For example Cara Poli, she is the soul of immortal, she always has a smile and radiates everyone with her positive energy. Robert S. Osinoff is also an athlete that I admire, it seems that nothing is impossible for him and he will reach any goal he puts his mind in to.
What has been your favorite memory since joining Immortal?
One of my favorite memories in CrossFit was when our work out was to run around and I got to encourage Cara so she won’t give up. I was screaming from the top of my lungs you can do it! and laughing because I was in the top of my game, another moment was when I would stay out late training working on my weakness I change the rules musically speaking, I would listen to my Latin music and dance by myself and used it as cardio.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement? And what is your least favorite?
My favorite movement is the toes to bars, and my least favorite for now is the double under because I always hit my feet, rear end, back and my head.
You have mentioned to me that you have dreams to open up your own CrossFit Affiliate back home. Please share with us why you want to do that.
It all started with my dream of being a CrossFit coach, one of the reason I took the difficult decision of staying in this country and leaving my family behind for the purpose of perusing my dream, this is why I am so dedicated. I finally have my certification, I will be bringing something to my country and I can finally say that I did it, I am so grateful with my immortal family for teaching me the real meaning of CrossFit. I plan to open a CrossFit gym and teach my students everything that I learn so far, I am aware that before I fill comfortable I first have to correct my mistakes, I am finally working towards improving my body mobility and the various techniques there is to learn, I know I have a lot more to learn but I feel that I am in the right path. I want to take advantage of the fact that CrossFit is becoming popular in my hometown I have watch videos of places that open for CrossFit however I was surprise to see that some of the movements that was being teach were all wrong, I hope to come and teach the correct form.
What goal are you currently pursuing (it doesn’t have to be fitness related)?:
This year my biggest goal is to save enough money and reunite with my daughter again.
